The Waterworks and Sewer Board, Inc., is an autonomous public utility serving Jasper, Alabama. Its Board members are appointed by the Jasper City Council, one from each of the 5 Districts for six year staggered terms. In addition to serving the City of Jasper, Alabama, the Board also wholesales water to most of the Walker County, Alabama, area.
In Memory, Charles Banks, Chairman
Banks was a member of Jasper’s First Baptist Church, where he served as a deacon. He will be remembered there for his service teaching in the class he loved until the time of his final hospitalization. He was a chaplain for Alacare, Disaster Relief through the Alabama Baptist State Convention, and served on the North American Mission Board. He was chairman of the Jasper Water and Sewer Board and served on that board for 18 years. He also served on the Jasper Zoning Adjustment Board for 24 years. He was employed by BellSouth for 36 years. His legacy as a father and patriarch of his family is timeless.
